Quiet Day

The kids and I spent the day at home.  It snowed all day, very lightly, and we ended the day with less snow than we started with- it was strange.  I emailed a realtor about our house and we will be meeting in just under 2 weeks- the whole process is seeming so real.  I made a list of lots of things to work on prior to him coming and I'm sure I'll have an even bigger list after he comes.

After getting pajamas on and picking up toys, a lot of wrestling is involved.  Many nights it ends in tears, luckily, tonight was not one of those nights.

We did get an email from the doctors in St. Louis so now Julia is officially on the schedule for April 24th.  Now we can start making our plans for that trip.

Surgery is Postponed

Well, we talked to the nurse this morning and Julia isn't able to have surgery on Wednesday because of her croup.  She actually has to wait 6 weeks before she can have surgery now.  So today has not gone quite as we were planning.  We were supposed to be on our way to St. Louis right now, instead we are at home.  We are bummed that things can't go as planned, but glad the doctors are taking Julia's best interest to heart.  We were able to get our hotel reservation cancelled and talked to my mom and Bob & Wendy to tell them we don't need them to come this week.  We have tentatively set the new date for her surgery to be April 24th.  Tomorrow, the doctor's office in St. Louis will check with their speech pathologist to make sure they have an appointment available the day before, then we should be able to finalize the date.  Eric didn't go into work this morning after we found out the news which has been really nice.  We decided we are just taking today as a mental health day and are resetting for tomorrow. I am the only one who isn't still in pajamas and that is only because I ran out to get us some lunch.  Eric and the boys are busy playing with superheros and Julia is swinging away.

So now we are back to awaiting surgery, but we have awhile to go.  By the time her surgery comes around, we should most likely know where we are moving to, what Eric's job will be, possibly what place we'll be living in, and hopefully, Eric will have deposited his dissertation the Friday before.  We will enjoy some more Julia smiles and snuggles for a few more months before she has surgery.  Here's hoping she stays healthy this time around.

Can you believe that from these smiles, this baby girl has croup :(  She is still pretty happy.  She was given a single dose steroid this morning and seems to be coughing a lot less.  Hopefully that holds true throughout the night.  We are awaiting a call from St. Louis in the morning to see if we need to make any changes to her surgery date.  We are hoping we are still able to go and get through surgery, but if they are worried about doing the surgery (mostly it is putting her under anesthesia that they are concerned with), then I would rather postpone and do it when she is healthy.  Here's to hoping, praying, crossing fingers and toes, that she is healthy enough to undergo surgery on Wednesday. 

No matter what, she is a pretty cute baby girl :)

We got a new camera today.  Ours was almost 7 years old and was starting to take more grainy pictures than crisp pictures.  We ordered our new one and got it this morning.  So far, I think we are liking it.  It seems to take pretty good pictures- we are still running into red-eye issues, but I think we'll have that with pretty much any camera.  

Snow much fun!!

We got some snow last night and the boys were very excited to play in the snow.  We were out shortly after 8:00- Eric stayed home a little later so he could stay in with Julia.  We had a lot of fun playing in the snow!  There was a thin layer of ice over the snow, but the snow underneath was perfect for packing.  I was very impressed with Parker- he loved it and was out with us for almost a whole hour.  We built a few snowmen- to Parker, snowmen are really only built to knock down.  Here is an overload of pictures :)
